I have 20+ years of experience working with people that have developmental disabilities. I also have 8 year experience working with families through child welfare.
I love working with my hands and being out in nature to recharge.
What I love about my job is that it’s inspiring and fulfilling. Every day I am amazed by the resilience of the human spirit. I also love to learn and share knowledge so that each day that I get to be with other people, I’m allowed to do this.
Chasity Murphy, Program Manager
I graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelors in Social Work. I worked for Children and Youth for 5 years after college and for the last 9 years, I have worked as a Family Group Decision Making/Family Finding Coordinator.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter and family. I also enjoy the outdoors and just relaxing.
Working with families is a passion of mine. I enjoy working with children and their families overcome obstacles they may face. I enjoy building on family strengths and connecting families with their natural resources. I enjoy working with my teammates and making a difference in the lives of children and families.
Ginny Dickerson, Family Finding Coordinator, FDGM Coordinator
When I am not working, I am playing mommy to my nine-year-old little girl. I have two “step-children” as well. These three children are my world! My family and I enjoy hockey games, dirt track races, and our children’s sporting and extracurricular events.
Wendi Capone, Family Finding Coordinator
I earned a BA from Mansfield University where I studied Criminal Justice and Psychology. I worked as a Family Based Therapist for 10 years, the School Based Coordinator for Big Brother and Big Sister for 3 years, and have been working as a Family Group Decision Making and Family Finder Coordinator for 4 years.
I enjoy attending my daughters soccer and band events, scrap-booking, and everything to do with the Autumn season.
I love meeting families and being able to reconnect the children and youth with support.
Kyle Thompson, Coordinator Assistant, Administrator
I graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Media (Communications). I started working in the Family Finding and Family Group Decision Making field in January of 2017.
I enjoy watching sports in my free time.
I like knowing that I am helping struggling families stay together when fallen on hard times.
Sue Lattimer, CPS Senior Program Specialist
I have an Associate’s Degree in Human Services and have worked in the field of Human Services for 28 years – Residential Program for 16 years and Day Program and Home and Community for 12 years.
I enjoy photography, drawing, re-purposing furniture, and crafts. I also enjoy kayaking and hiking in parks.
I love that I come into work and every day is different. I also love that I get to help someone, even in the smallest way, each and every day.
Wendy McClure, Quality Assurance, Program Specialist
I have worked in the field of Human Services for the past 19 years, 18 of those years with Penn York. I am currently working to attain an Associate’s Degree in Human Services.
In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, fishing, and hunting. I also enjoy spending time with my 6 grandchildren.
What I enjoy most about Penn York Opportunities is the feeling of making a difference in someone’s life, watching people achieve goals that others may have thought they would never reach, and being the voice for someone who has not yet learned to use their own.

I graduated from Waverly High School, then received a Bachelor’s Degree from The College at Brockport.
I enjoy playing golf and coaching.
Working with this population has been a goal of mine since middle school. I love helping our individuals take part in experiences and opportunities that every person should be afforded.

I graduated from Athens High School in 1987 and attended Corning Community College for one year studying law. I began working at Penn York Opportunities in March of 2014. I began working in the Home and Community program, then moved to the School to Work program and am currently a Senior Direct Support Professional in the CPS program.
I love spending time with my two sons and five grandchildren.
The best part of working at Penn York is seeing how happy people are to see you. I also enjoy making a difference in the consumers’ lives. I love showing consumers how to do different things and help them to realize they can do anything they put their minds to – they are all special in their own way. Also, the people at Penn York are so loving and caring that you just can’t have a bad day.

I graduated from Holy Family College in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. I am also an ACRE Trained Employment Specialist as well as a CPR/First Aid/AED trainer. I worked several years in community mental health and as an instructional assistant and preschool teacher. In total, I have worked in the Mental Health, Behavioral Health, and Education for over 17 years. Currently, I am a Program Specialist specializing in employment services.
I am married and have 2 teenage boys. I love Harry Potter and comic book super heroes. I have a cat, Hendrix, and a Kenyan sand boa, Oreo. Fall is my favorite season, but I love the heat of summer. I also love reading, crocheting, and spending time with my family.

I am a graduate of Waverly High School. Prior to working for Penn York Opportunities (2011), I was employed in the IBM Federal Systems Division/Lockheed Martin (Owego, NY) for approximately 30 years. I attended numerous job title certifications and classifications through the company itself or in collaboration with some of the local colleges.
The job title positions listed in sequence below are in regards to the vast majority of time I worked in the IBM Federal Systems Division/Lockheed Martin: Executive Secretary and Team Leader (Administration Department), Business Practice Analyst (Legal Department), and Paralegal Associate (Legal Department).
A few of the many things I enjoy on my time off are hiking, bird watching, antiques, and spending time with my family and friends.
I find working for Penn York Opportunities extremely rewarding, and I feel this organization is of vital importance to the community and its surrounding areas.

I enjoy sports – wrestling, judo, and golf. I also enjoy the outdoors – hunting and fishing. I also really enjoy remodeling houses.

I have a Master’s Degree in Education from Elmira College. I worked with special needs individuals in grades K – 8 for 11 years. I then worked in two group homes and experienced many challenges . With challenges comes growth and I now enjoy my position at Penn York.
I enjoy creating art, learning to play violin, and raising cats.
A day is never wasted if you can put a smile on someone’s face.

I started at Penn York in March of 2018. I graduated from Penn State University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Writing, Honors, and research and leadership awards. I loved going to school at Penn State as I made life-long friends there.
In 2012, I married my best friend. I enjoy riding my scooter, gardening, traveling, and learning to play the violin as well as researching genealogy and family history for myself and others. I am also an active and avid member of a small choral group, the Guthrie Choir, and a past member of the Valley Chorus, a local community choir.
This is the first job I have had that has had substance. My job is more than doing a task to make money for a big corporation – my job changes lives. There is nothing more rewarding than watching someone with special needs grow and come into their own.

I started working at Penn York as a part-time cleaning person. I then moved to the finance office, then move to the Home and Community program where I am still working today.
Cross stitch, needle point and crochet are my hobbies and I love spending time with my grandchildren.

I am a 27 year old mother of two beautiful kiddos! I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, fishing, and concerts.

I graduated from Elmira Business Institute with a degree in Office Administration. I also earned an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) degree at the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, scrap booking, crafts, and reading.
What I enjoy most about working at Penn York Opportunities is definitley the consumers I serve. Every day is a new story about what they did the night before. I am a person who loves to help others. I look forward to working with them every day and helping them to accomplish their goals.

“I have been with Penn York since March of 2010. I have an associate’s degree in Human Services from Lackawana College and graduated from Athens High School.
I write poetry and read my poetry at open mics. I love reading both fiction and non-fiction, enjoy classic rock, alternative music and love to see bands play – both local and famous bands. I collect the work, paintings, drawings and photos of local artists.
I love my job. I enjoy getting to know my clients and introducing them to new experiences in our surrounding community.”

I graduated from Southside High School in Elmira in 2010. I have been working for Penn York since January of 2017.
I am the mother of two wonderful little girls! I enjoy anything that involves spending time with my children and cooking. I also enjoy my three dogs – Chubbs, Eleanor, and Lillian.
What I love about my job is not one day is the same. You’re always changing someone’s life in the smallest way. Everyone is so compassionate and supportive of one another. I couldn’t ask for a more rewarding job.

I worked in the health care setting at the Robert Packer Hospital for 18 1/2 years as well as NHS.
I really enjoy collecting rocks and gems.
