What We Do

Penn-York provides a number of services, most of which fall under the categories of Community Support Services, Employment Services, Family Services.

Community Support Services

Community Participation Supports

This service is a community-based program focused on social inclusion, building interest, developing skills and potential for competitive integrated employment.

Creative Together Art Studio

Creating art stimulates cognitive and emotional development and can enhance problem-solving skills, improve focus, and boost memory. It also encourages mindfulness and emotional release, which can be therapeutic and

offer emotional healing for people of all abilities. These classes are taught by instructors who understand the needs of our consumers.

Respite

Respite services are put in place to supervise and support participants living in private homes on a short-term basis for planned and emergency situations, giving caregivers a period of relief.

Companion

Companion services are for participants who are 18 years of age or older who live in a private home for the purpose of providing supervision or assistances with health, safety and welfare, ADLs supports and to promote a meaningful home and community life.

Transportation

Providing transportation to and from programs or appointments. Transportation is a direct service that enables participants to access services and activities specified in their approved service plan. This service does not include transportation that is an integral part of the provision of another discrete Waiver service.

In-Home and Community

This service is provided in a home or community setting to assist participants in acquiring, maintaining and improving the skills necessary to live more independently and participate in a meaningful community life.

Supported Living

Supported living services are provided for participants who live in a private home that is owned, leased or rented by the participant. This service is to promote the health and welfare of the participant.

Behavioral Support

This service in intended for participants who may need assistance acquiring skills to replace problem behaviors that affect their family or community life.

Housing and Tenancy

This service is available for participants who are preparing to live on their own or for those who are in jeopardy of losing their current housing. This service promotes being successful in private homes owned, rented or leased by the participant.

Independent Living

Assistance for transition youth 14-23 in developing the skills they will need to become a productive and healthy adult. These services are provided individually and in groups.

ECHO Learning Lab

ECHO: Employment. Choice. Honor. Opportunity. Embedded in the community, is for Individuals with disabilities to practice basic life, health, safety, and employment skills needed to live and work independently.

Employment Services

Supported Employment

This service is designed to assist our Individuals in various areas, mainly focused on obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment. The service definition for Supported Employment is broad by design, which allows for the agency to assist in a number of ways for the participant.

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR)

This service is contracted to our agency by the State of Pennsylvania. Designed for Individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, this service focuses on all aspects of employment, starting from resume building and job finding, all the way to individualized support in the workplace.

Business Enterprise Training Program

Java Junction, Sweet Sharlene's Ice Cream Shop and coming soon the Village Hub Cafe are all part of this program that provides employment to our participants.
